The One That’s Not About Food

Okay, so this is a little bit off-piste to my normal posts. But it’s something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately, and something I feel passionately about, so wanted to put this out there, as I imagine there are others out there who may feel the same.

To all of my friends with little humans,

I miss you.

I know that is an odd statement to start with, but it’s how I feel. D and I have got 4 beautiful Godchildren, who we adore, and to every single one of my friends with children, I love them just as much as I love you. I will be here for you, through every moment you need me to be.

But please don’t forget about me. I totally understand that we might have to change plans at times, and that little man or lady is now an extension who needs to come along. I don’t mind.

Please just remember that I’m not yet part of the “mum club” – one day I hope to be, and that I do as amazing a job as you’re doing with your children, but it can feel so isolating not being part of that club when you’re not ready yet. Please remember that when you spend time with me, especially if it’s also with other mums.

I want to hear all about your little one, they make me laugh… a lot, but please don’t forget to ask me how I am. I will offer to babysit your child over and over again, I mean it, I’m happy to! Don’t not ask me because you feel it’s a burden, I enjoy spending time with them and watching them grow.

Just remember, as I will take caution to when I hopefully have children one day, that before you had babies, we used to see each other really regularly. We don’t have to go out like we used to all the time, we can stay in, let me spend time with you when they’ve gone to bed, it doesn’t have to be late – and I can make dinner!

Whilst you’re at home enjoying family time, I’m going to bed early because I’ve no longer got anyone to go out with (apart from my lovely boyfriend of course – who travels a lot)!

Please don’t take this to heart, there’s a reason I’m writing this. I’m sure there are hundreds of people out there, who miss you just as much as I do, and if you are one of those people, looking for a friend who enjoys a gin – I’m here!

Lots of love from your biggest fan,

P xx
